Mystery sound

I've never encountered a typewriter that sounds like this before ...

... and I don't think you'll guess what it is. But you guys might surprise me!

  1. The hollowness of the type-bars hitting the platen reminds me of a Remington 10 I had, but that twang at the end stumps me.

  5. NEVER underestimate the Typosphere!

Words are Winged recognized the sound 11 minutes after I posted it, and x over it got it too. Yes, it is a Remington 10. The twang at the end was an attempt to baffle everyone by tilting the typewriter back and strumming on the long shift assist springs. But it's not so easy to throw a bloodhound off the track.

Now I'd like to know what it is that creates this funny xylophone sound when you type on this model.

  6. I was going to say a Varityper, but I have never heard one. I've just heard about the spring motor winding up every 13th space, so I thought that might have been that strange sound at the end.
